I have left practice and some of the qualifications to the members who want to comment on their own.

Leclerc gest the pole position for Ferrari after an earlier Q3 spin.

Verstappen only 2nd had DRS problems.

Both Mercedes well placed on the grid!
Russell 4th & Hamilton 6th.

Leclerc, Verstappen, Sainz, Russell, Perez, Hamilton, Bottas, Magnussen, Ricciardo, Schumacher

Eliminated during Q2: Norris, Ocon, Tsunoda, Gasly, Zhou

Eliminated during Q1: Vettel, Alonso, Stroll, Albon, Latifi

After qualification results Mercedes Toto Wolff can be very satisfied.
Russel id well placed on the grid in 3rd place and his colleague Hamilton is 6th.

Ferrari fans in Barcelona are thrilled to get Sainz starting 3rd on the grid.

Red Bull Christian Horner somewhat dissapointed with Verstappen’s performance during Q3 declared
"It wasn't actually power in the end, it was the DRS that didn't open »

Red Bull Verstappen bitter cause he lost the chance to get pole position.
"I couldn't do my final run. Either the DRS didn't open or I lost power, so it's a bit of a shame.

This is Ferrari’s first time when Leclerc obtains the Barcelona pole position and this is due to better Q3 results

Lap 1 Magnussen goes off track into the gravel after bumping wheels with Hamilton.

Lap 7 Sainz spins into gravel.

Lap 9 Verstappens spins into gravel. He looses the 2nd position and will return to the track 4th.

Leclerc lap 27 looses the lead and pits due to loss of power

Lap 31 Perez overtakes Russel

Lap 61 Mercedes Hamilton now 4th passes Ferrari Sainz.
It seems Hamilton has got a coolant leak.

Verstappen first Perez 2nd Russell 3rd,
Hamilton, Sainz, Bottas, Ocon, Norris, Alonso, Tsunoda 

Hamilton is ordered by team
Engineers to slow down due to coolant issue and is passed by Ferrari Sainz now 4th.

Last lap 66 This is how the drivers are now positioned Verstappen winner, Perez 2nd , Russell 3rd, Sainz, Hamilton, Bottas, Ocon, Norris, Alonso, Tsunoda 

Yes !!!Verstappen winner of the Barcelona F1 Grand Prix with a malfunctionning DRS that could have cost him the final victory.

Red Bull Perez 2nd on the podi with the fastest lap point as well.

Would it be better if Perez was first and verstappen 2nd i think thats what they want to talk about after the race…

Mercedes Russell 3rd outshines his colleague Hamilton.

Ferrari Sainz not on podium but his fabs saw him beat Hamilton and get to be 4th so its not so bad after all.

Verstappen leader of the world championship with 6 points ahead of everyone!
This is also because his colleague Perez allowed Verstappen by.

Mercedes Russell 3rd makes it to the podium… but not Hamilton.

Red bull Verstappen steals qualification pole position from Ferrari Leclerc who was only fastest during Q1.

Ferrari Sainz crashed in Q2 in a wet session.

Fridays top 10:
Verstappen, Leclerc, Norris, Magnussen, Alonso, Ricciardo, Perez, Bottas, Vettel, Sainz

Out of Q2:
Russell, Schumacher, Hamilton, Zhou, Stroll

Out of Q1:
Tsunoda, Gasly, Latifi, Ocon, Albon
Whose brakes cought fire and exploded.



The sprint on saturday



Redbull Verstappen beating Ferrari Leclerc at saturday sprint.

Top eight:
Verstappen, Leclerc, Perez, Sainz, Norris, Ricciardo, Bottas, Magnussen

Leclerc passes Verstappen but the Red Bull chased him and took back the position.

Verstappen will be in pole position sunday and scored 8 points at this sprint.

Mercedes had a dramatic sprint, Russell 11th and Hamilton 14th barely in.

Zhou had a crash

Ferrari absent from

Verstappen started from pole on a wet track and managed to stay ahead.

Leclerc started 2nd but lost 2 positions ended up 4th thanks to Perez and Norris.

Sainz & Ricciardo tangoed from the start of the race and went into a spin
The safety car was launched and Ferrari Sainz had to abandon.

Leclerc got back ahead of Norris for third

Alonso damaged his car and had to abandon.

Hamilton finishes 13th

Mercedes will practice with no new upgrades

Red Bull has changes its front wing
Ferrari has a new diffuser

He is the beginning of a long weekend for Vettel Aston Martin his car has stopped during practice, his car is smoking and he quickly uses a fire extinguisher.

Ferrari Leclerc launches himself into first corner and contiues off track.

Ferrari Leclerc ends his cession in the same way he started off track but is second fastest for Fp1.

Ferrari colleague Sainz ends his first practice fastest.

Red Bull ends up cession 3rd & 4th.

Mercedes Hamilton 7th Mercedes Russell

Fp2

Vettel Aston Martin still not ready after his cought fire.

Ferrari Leclerc’s lap results at 1.20.898 is fastest far.
Ferrari Sain is second fastest


Alfa Romeo Bottas lap result is 1.20.32

McLaren Ricciardo 3rd place its on his home race track


Verstappen is 7th pits and reports he cant turn the car in.


Ferrari Leclerc’s new lap is quicker on new tyres 0.2 secs faster than his colleague Sainz

Leclerc is still the fastest for the moment.

Sainz very annouyed a new lap is ruined runs into traffic Gasly Alpha Tauri is at the first corner.

We have yet to see the Red Bulls on soft tyres how they do. But Redbull is still busy fixing Verstappen’s car.

In the meanwhile Mclaren Norris is 3rd is 0.3 secs slower than Leclerc.

Alpine Alonso beats Sainz lap result with a 0.031secs difference.

Bummer for Maclaren Norris the two Ferraries kick in and become first and second again.

Sainz is first his time is 1.19.376
His colleague Leclerc  2nd +0.111secs behind.

Red Bull is ready to lap on soft tyres.

Ferrari dominates so far

Verstappen ran into traffic and is only 3rd +0.4 secs slower than Ferrari Sainz.

Ferrari Leclerc becomes first beating colleague Sainz by 0.4 secs
Leclerc’s lap time is 1.18.979

Redbull Verstappen stays 3rd despite a faster lap. Ferrari Sainz is still faster than
Him.

Aston Martin is still working on Vettel’s car energy recovery system. So he cannot participate in Fp2.

There is a red flag cause of debries coming from Stroll.

Ferrari Leclerc has the pole position

Alpine Alonso had a crash during Q3 at T11

Latifi & Stroll tangoed during a collision in Q1.

McLaren Ricciardo is 7th at home grand Prix

The Australian race:


Verstappen is second on the grid right behind Leclerc on pole!
Leclerc’s Ferrari colleague Sainz is only 9th is on hard tyres.
Norris, Hamilton and Russel behind Verstappen.
The first 8 cars will use medium tyres first.
Race is underway!

Ferrari Leclerc manages to stay ahead

Hamilton now 3rd passed Red Bull Perez.

With Leclerc Ferrari has an ideal start

Mercedes has big hopes as Hamilton is 5th how many positions can he gain from there?

Ferrari Sainz14th !!?? Lost many positions!

Sweet jesus Ferrari Sainz is off track stopped and here comes a safety car!

Leclerc has the lead
Followed by Verstappen, Hamilton, Perez ,Russel.

Stroll Aston Martin first uses the vsc to pit to medium. Then next lap… pits to hard.
Does Aston Martin need to loose time piting twice ?

During safety car the new rules prevent Verstappen from pressuring Leclerc he has to stay back.

The safety car is gone lets race!


Leclerc leads at T1
Followed by Verstappen,Hamilton,Perez.
Perez is 3rd again using Drs passes Hamilton at T3.

Vettel underbreaks off the track at T11! Then returns

Lap 12 Verstappen reports left front tyre deterioration is completely grained.
And is 5secs behind Ferrary Leclerc who is quicker by one lap!

Russell is slowing down chased by two McLarens Norris &Ricciardo on DRS.

Latifi & Schumacher pit to hard

Alfa Romeo Bottas passes Tsunoda at T11.

Magnussen Haas chases Tsunoda
Magnussen is too close and has to lock brakes looses his position to 14th.

Verstappen +8secs behind Leclerc
Perez 3rd is chased by Hamilton 2secs away and has a better pace than Perez.

Alpine Ocon within the points pits to hard exits 17th and into traffic.

Verstappen 2nd pits to hard and exits 7th.

Alonso & Gasly brawling behind Verstappen.

One can notice that the Mercedes are catching up RedBulls, but who has the best car then?
Hamilton chases Perez nervously
Perez pits from 2nd to medium
Hamilton takes his position.

Leclerc leading with 18secs ahead of everyone pits.
Hamilton second pits.

Perez 3rd
Leclerc is safe he exits ahead of everyone

Russell 2nd with no pit stops so far.
Cause …Verstappen 3rd there is too much to loose pitting.


Verstappen 2nd lands fastest lap 1.22.533
With a gap of 4.4 secs from Ferrari Leclerc.
And both of them are using hards.

Perez is now 4th passing Hamilton 5th!

Vettel stops oh god …he has crashed and broke the nose after a spin undebraking in a kerb.

Here comes the safety Car


This is not so great news for Ferrary Leclerc cause he slows down and the distance between the others is lost.

Russell makes his move he pits during safety car and exits 3rd.

Alpine Alonso 4th does not pit.

Ferrari Leclerc first lost 8secs is only 10 seconds ahead with Verstappen 2nd on older tyres should not be able to catch up.

Verstappen almost reaches first position at T1 but Ferrari Leclerc wont allow it to happen.

Mercedes Russell 3rd chasing Verstappen

With a die hard Alonso bent on chasing Russel.
The Alpine tyres are not very fresh though.

Leclerc leading and its lot a surprise the distance with Verstappen 2nd is increasing to 2.3secs.


Russell 3rd is +1.5s from Verstappen

Perez becomes 4th on DRS passes Alonso at T3

Dramatic moment for Alpine loosing hopes of podium today.

Hamilton becomes 5th gest past Alonso as well at T1.

Ferrari Leclerc lands fastest lap 1.22.450
His advantage is now 3.6 seconds ahead of Verstappen 2nd.

Willliams Albon 10 th into the points for the first time! chases Alpine Ocon.

The tables are turned Red Bull is quicker than Mercedes
Perez 4th has DRS gives chase to Mercedes Russell 3rdin the battle for third.
Hamilton coming behind them 3.8s secs away. 

Haas Magnussen is chased by 2 McLarens in hot pursuit
McLaren Norris climbs to 7th position passing first the Haas

Mclaren Ricciardo is not so lucky Magnussen is not so easy to overtake.

Mercedes has really bad news for Russell
"Management is more important than position, if you are hurting the tyres to keep position then let Perez past."

"That is not what I want to hear," yells back Russell!

Like it or not Perez becomes 3rd on DRS overtakes Russel .
Perez can now hope to be on the podium!

Both Mercedes Russel 4th and Hamilton 5th must be really pissed!

Leclerc lands a new fastest lap record 1.22.986 and his gap with Closest contender Verstappen is more than 5secs away.

There are now 20 laps left in this Australian Grand prix and the top are

Leclerc first Ferrari
Verstappen Red Bull +5.3secs
Perez Red Bull +11.1secs
Russell Mercedes +13.2secs
Hamilton Mercedes +2.6ses

Verstappen lands his very own fastest lap 1.21.677.
Verstappen still cannot catch up Leclerc more than 6secs away.

Verstappen’s cars is smoking and had to stop the race! Redbull just lost one car….

There is virtual safety car.

This is really nice for Ferrari Leclerc.
His closest contender is 11 Secs away RedBull Perez.
Alpine Alonso pits and exits 13th.

Stroll 9th received a 5secs reprimand Is going to be out of the points!

As always its this is the moment in the race Hamilton radios messages is it true is it a bluff?
Reports a blister to his front left tyre

Leclerc never has enough he lands a new fastest lap record 1.20.966secs.

RedBull Perez will not catch Leclerc 16 secs ahead.

Gasly passes Stroll completely out of the points for sure.

Alpine Alonso dropped to 13th on used tyres.

Both Haas driver Magnussen , Schumacher pass Alondo.

Hamilton trying to come up with a bluff accuses his team!

I have left practice one and some of the qualifications to the members who want to comment on their own.

I am your host F1 online commentator for this event .

Without further due I jump to FP2 results.

Practice 2 was delayed as teams met with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem garanteed safety for the rest of the race after a rebel Houthi missile hit an oil depot quite close to the race track.

What do you think? Is it really safe to continue the race if bombs explode?

How is safety garanteed?

How could this happen at all?
Does this mean that there was a risk and noone knew about this before?

Its very strange there is a war going on but safety is garanteed.

P2 classifications results
Leclerc Ferrari is fastest even with a damaged car after brushing the wall at T4.

Tsunoda had to quit P2 due to engine failure and left his car on the track.
His team is cautious since team mate Gasly car on fire at the last race in Bahrain.

Charles Leclerc damaged his Ferrari after touching the wall at Turn 4. Its a mistake you cant afford its a dangerous track both Ferrari pilot Leclerc and Sainz brushed the track limits.

Saudi Arabian Grand prix qualifications results

Latifi crashed out during Q1.

Perez takes the pole away from Ferrari in a fantastic Q3 lap.It will be the first time in history that Perez is ln pole.

Mick Schumacher Haas destroys his car completely at turn 12 during quali and is evacuated by helicopter. He is fine its the car that took the damage. It was a high speed incident and the track was filled with debries.
So Haas will race with only one car sunday.

Hamilton is out in Q1 can you believe the Mercedes champion lacks pace this year!
Hamilton declared the set up was done wrong and the car is completely undrivable!

Toto Wolff is and Hamilton will try to have better pace during the race than during qualifying. The set up was only experimental for qualifying it worked really bad so they changed the settings since.

This will be a narrow street race
Red Bull has pole aiming for victory

The other Redbull is 4th
Hamilton if he wants to make it to the podium has to gain at least 12 positions.

Last minute drama for AlphaTauri Tsunoda going back to the garage leaving his car behind due to the drivetrain he cannot race anymore.
Tost has one man down, only Gasly remaining for the race.

Lap 1

Perez stays in first position despite both Ferraries angling on the grid to jump him.

Verstappen now 3rd gained one position gets past Sainz.

Hamilton gained only one position is now 14th.

Perez is safely 1.5secs ahead of Ferrari Leclerc,

The Alpine pilots Ocon and Alonso have a brawl.
Chasing each other really close and braking raising a large cloud driving nervously.

The gap increases Leclerc +2.3secs from
Perez.

Alonso on Drs finally defeats Ocon very uncooperative…
We remind you they are team mates.
Ocon never giving up retakes lost 6th position from Alonso.
Ocon drove off track in the process of regaining a position at T1 is forced to give up position again!

Ocon keeps chasing Alonso during the entire 9th lap but never gets position back.

Lap 10
1 Perez. Red Bull
2 Leclerc. +2.4secs Ferrari
3 Verstappen. +3.8 secs Red Bull
4 Sainz. +6.9secs Ferrari
5 Russell. +16.8. Mercedes

Ricciardo's pits and this allows Hamilton to gain one more position 13th.
Hamilton passes Stroll and becomes 12th.
Unfortunatly Hamilton is too far from the Perez.

Hamilton goes past Norris McLaren and becomes 11th.

Zhou who crossed the track limits and has in doing so gained an unfair advantage is handed a 5 second penalty for his earlier brawl with Albon.

Ocon receives instructions from his team to hold Position.
But Bottas gest past Ocon is 7th anyway.
So now Alonso will be chased by Bottas Alpha Romeo.

Hamilton gets past Gasly and reaches position 10 now he can score points.

And then Perez pits and is no longuer in first position in the race!!! Leclerc took that first place.
One might think Redbull anticipated Ferraries were going to pit.

Lap 17
Latifi has a crash with lots of debries on track the Safety Car is released! This is dramatic for Perez because Immediatly Leclerc and Verstappen decide to pit.

Leclerc exits first position and Verstappen second both are ahead of Perez leaving him behind.

Sainz accuses Perez
He pushed me off claiming Perez was exiting pits almost at the same time
As if Perez had not enough problems already now he is going to be investigated by the stewards.

This Safety Car is ending!
Leclerc then Verstappen are loose

Leclerc is still first into T1 escapes from Verstappen chasing him but cannot overtake.

Perez lost one position its Sainz who is 3rd!

Mercedes Russell is 5th !he got past Haas Magnussen.

Leclerc is far enough from Verstappen that he cant get DRS at +1.4secs

Hamilton takes theis opportunity lunges into T1 becoming 6th he succesfully passed his opponent Haas Magnussen.

Verstappen radios that Leclerc has just touched a white pit lane.

Vesrtappen keeps the chase going on is closer +1.3 secs from Leclerc.

Sainz radios he had a misshift. 

Hamilton 6th radios his tyres are ok
We remind you he still did not pit after 29laps

His tyres may be what they are
But Hamilton is six secs behind Russell
And very far from Leclerc

The stewards declare there will be no further investigation after Sainz accused Perez earlier in the pits.We remind you Perez lost the position he had gained in the meantime.
So what point would there be to keep investigating ? Fate decided or did Perez concede? What do you think?

Verstappen 2nd +1.429 secs is instructed by team radio still chasing at High speed to let Leclerc leading use up his tyres for the moment.

Sainz 3rd Perez 4th

Alonso on DRS passes Magnussen who cant defend on used tyres into T1.

Surprisingly Magnussen chases Alonso and takes back his lost position!

Alonso suddenly has a power failure !

Ricciardo also ! He cant make it to the pits.
His car is completely stopped and has ro be pushed into the pit lane.

Bottas drives back to pits he also stops racing!

Virtual safety car

Magnussen pits for the first time!

Hamilton does not pit despite his teams telling him to!

Virtual safety car ends and Hamilton looses the opportunity to pit!

Hamilton pits anyway but exits 12th he lost positions! Thats what you get for not listening!

Verstappen as the virtual safety car end chases Leclerc again! But is much closer to him now! He is near 1ses away can hope to get DRS.

Verstappen does it! Has DRS and gets past Leclerc who retakes lost position also has DRS
They bith have a brawl but Leclerc comes out on top.

Verstappen again radios Leclerc about passing the white pit line which is forbidden unless you want to stop…

There are only 5 laps left !

Verstappen about to get DRs again…

Verstappen pulls it off he gets pat Leclerc!

Is there enough time for Leclerc to catch Verstappen?

Hamilton is back into 10th position passing Stroll!


Yellow flags at T1 Leclerc cannot get DRS!

Verstappen winner of the the Saudi Arabian Grand prix! Leclerc only second place. And his colleague Sainz is 3rd.
Redbull 2nd pilot Perez who had started pole is 4th.

Mercedes is not on the podium as Russel is 5th and Hamilton 10th.

Both Red Bull and Ferrari dominate FP2.
Only Russel seems to be able to compete is 4th.

The race final report:

Reaction to the F1 season-opener from Sakhir
Ferrari Leclerc started from pole is the winner of the first grand prix of season 2022 in Bahrain. He also gets the fastest lap point.
His Ferrari colleague Sainz is second.
A fantastic opening score of points for Ferrari.
Binotto could not be anymore satisfied and celebrated with champagne amazing victory.

Mercedes Hamilton is only third.
No Mercedes on podium!
Ferrary the great return to podium!

Dramatical season start for both RedBulls retired from the race,they lost power during the last laps probably due to faulty fuel pump.
Verstappen is so dissapointed and shocked out of disbelief but managed to show a completely different face when congratulating Leclerc after the race.
I can only assume Redbull will fix the fuel pump and will score next race.
Can Mercedes come back, what is the problem? It seems their cars keep bouncing and this makes them slow. May be the frame is the problem then? What do you think?

Today I just do the race day on sunday.

I jump to The sunday race leaving Fp + Q for those who want to seize the day and add or start F1 commentating!

Verstappen will start from pole on softs.

Hamilton 2nd on mediums.

Race starts!

Hamilton is quickest passes Verstappen.
The mediums were better it seems.

Red Bull Perez becomes 3rd as Norris is too wide.

Hamilton & Verstappen are side by side
Verstappen defends going inside the turn
Hamilton avoids contact by driving wide off track at T7.
Hamilton’s move cutting off track makes him gain an advantage he leads! But is this allowed?!

Stewards decide say no investigation is necessary…?! I really disagree its not normal
What do you think?

Verstappen very irate wants the stewards to force Hamilton to give back position gained.

Masi disagrees and confirms to Red Bull Hamilton will keep the position because he showed he didn't gain an advantage.

I personnaly disagree but you can see it like this… Hamilton going off track was a must or he would collide. And also he ruined his tyres off track. And also despite all this it happens by chance that he leads again.
So it was not voluntary going off track to pass Verstappen and his tyres are ruined….

Verstappen now 2nd +1.7 secs behind leader
Now what can he do about it?

RedBull Horner declares he is shocked!

Hamilton first
Verstappen 2nd +2 secs
Perez 3rd
Sainz 4th
Norris 5th

Lap 9
Verstappen +2.4 secs behind feels the rear soft tyres are used.
Hamilton starts flying the gap grows to 4.4secs

Red Bull had to do something!
Verstappen pits to hard tyres exits 5th cause Leclerc was in the way at pit exit.

Verstappen is 4th he passed Norris.

Hamilton pits from first exits 2nd and Perez takes the lead!

This is now how things stand:

Hamilton 2nd +10.7secs behind
Ferrari Sainz 3rd +14secs
Verstappen 4th +15.5secs
How long can Perez hold up Hamilton?

Lap 18 Verstappen on DRS becomes 3rd passes Sainz for 3rd

Hamilton now +3.7 secs behind the leading Red Bull Perez.

Verstappen still +7secs behind leader….

Lap 19
Perez does a great job resisting Hamilton

Hamilton almost passes Perez who immediatly gets position back!

This gives time for Verstappen whose gap with Hamilton is now +2secs

Hamilton passes Perez
With Verstappen right behind Hamilton
Perez gets out of Verstappen way who is very pleased.

So Verstappen is 2nd +1.8secs behind the leader.

Perez pits making Bottas 3rd!

Lap 22
Verstappen still 2nd at only +1.7secs behind Hamilton now.
But Hamilton is quicker and starts flying again +2.6secs ahead of Verstappen then +3secs
They are both on same tyres and Verstappen’s are fresher.

Raikkonen retires from the race … sadly from F1 as well after brushing the barrier and gets damaged he goes to the pit and his teams abandons.

Williams Russell pits has power failures and is forced to abandon but we will surely see him in F1 again at Mercedes next year.

Lap 30

Heres how things look:

Hamilton leads
Verstappen 2nd +4.20secs
Bottas 3rd + 26.25 secs and has not gone to pit yet
Perez 4th +28.64secs
Alpine Alonso + 39.20secs no stops

Bottas pits to hard tyres, exits 9th loosing 6 positions!

Verstappen still 2nd and over + 5 secs behind Hamilton!

Bottas on hard new tyres but is still 9th stuck behind Leclerc doing a great job received compliments from Ferrari engineers!
Mercedes repeats and orders4 times Bottas to do something!!
Finally Bottas passes now Leclerc!
Bottas is 2.6 secs behind Norris….

Giovinazzi at T9 has stopped the car.

Which triggers a virtual safety car.

Hamilton does not pit cause they are confident
Verstappen does not have pace…..

Verstappen pits and receives fresh hard tyres
Its a threat for Mercedes the race is long and Hamilton’s tyres will get used….

Race restarts and Verstappen has fresh tyres not Hamilton.

Virtual safety car ending

Verstappen is 2nd with +17.9 secs gap behind Hamilton.

Hamilton is surprised the gap is not bigger
And asks his team Am I going to be in trouble?

There are 20 laps left…..

The team replies Verstappen would have to be quicker by 0.8 secs each lap to catch up

And Verstappen just so happens to be 0.8secs faster on first lap after ending of the safety car so its abig statement and is now only +16.2secs away from Hamilton, and gets fastest lap.
Hamilton replies to his team :
Bit of a risk leaving me out, no?

The next lap of the race Verstappen
Is 0.6secs faster so its another big statement from Red Bull that they can catch up!

But the question is can Verstappen keep this pace all race long without tyres getting used and not making any mistakes… also can Hamilton….

Lap 43 out of 58

Verstappen still 2nd but +14.8secs away from Hamilton

15 laps to go
Pirelli hard tyre can last 50 laps during testing.
Of course they will get used sooner than that cause its under race conditions.
question is just how much used up?

Lap 45 Hamilton is running into traffic ahead
With many cars
Hamilton gets past the cars in front but the gap with Verstappen is now 12secs

Red Bull Horner says he needs a miracle!
He declares Mercedes pace is too strong
With only 10 laps left!
€€€€€

Norris has a puncture! He pits

9 laps left and Verstappen +11.1secs behind Hamilton.

Lap 52 Verstappen its his turn to run into traffic Will he loose speed ?will Hamilton be able to get away because of this ?

Latifi is reported having crashed at T14!

Safety car !

Verstappen pits to soft tyres

But Hamilton just like last time does not pit
Hamilton declares this is unbelievable!
4 laps left to go and safety car still here so may be the safety car could last till the end…
If not then Verstappen has new tyres to catch up Hamilton!
Mercedes tells Hamilton there could be no more laps….

Some cars are stuck between Hamilton and Verstappen …..
Will race director have these cars get out of there ?

Only 3 laps left

Perez was 3rd is in the pits and …. Abandons?!?!
So this bumps Ferrari Sainz in 3rd position.

Last lap!!!

Lappedcars are allowed to overtake the safety car ending

Verstappen overtakes Hamilton at T5!!!

Verstappen is going to be the new world champion!!!

Verstappen finishes the last lap first and wins

Mercedes is …… very upset about
Masi’s letting the cars overtake the safety car at the last lap!

What would have happened if Masi let the safety car untill the end of the race?

Christian Horner got his wish
And the entire Red Bull team too!
They really got a lot thanks to Perez and his team work!

Mercedes is convinced the rules were not followed right! Cause only 5 cars were allowed to overtake the safety car and there were others that were not….usualy all the cars can
But that was not the case this time.

Among the radio messages end of race we get:
Horner: "Why aren't we getting these lapped cars out of the way?
Masi: "Give me a second. My main thing is to get this incident clear."
Horner: "You only need one racing lap."
Race Control then say the five cars in between Hamilton and Verstappen can overtake the Safety Car
Wolff: "Michael this isn't right


The 5 cars Norris, the 2 Alpines, Leclerc & Vettel, were told to pass Hamilton.
And Verstappen had a clear road to charge Hamilton.

Mercedes issued official protests!


But F1 stewards rejected protest
Accusing Verstappen of overtaking Hamilton under Safety car.
The Stewards explained this protest was inadmissible because when car 33 for a brief moment moved slightly in front of Car 44 Then moved back behind Car 44 and it was not in front anymore when the Safety Car period ended.

The stewards also reminded Article 15.3 allows the Race Director to control the use of the safety car, which in our determination includes its deployment and withdrawal. 

That although Article 48.12 may not have been applied fully, in relation to the safety car returning to the pits at the end of the following lap, Article 48.13 overrides that and once the message “Safety Car in this lap” has been displayed, it is mandatory to withdraw the safety car at the end of that lap. 
That notwithstanding Mercedes’ request that the Stewards remediate the matter by amending the classification to reflect the positions at the end of the penultimate lap, this is a step that the Stewards believe is effectively shortening the race retrospectively, and hence not appropriate. 
Accordingly, the Protest is dismissed. The Protest Deposit is not refunded.

Well well well Masi does run the place.
Its only in favor of safety he is not in favor of any team. He only wants the race to go on in a safe way. And if one lap is possible end of race well why not?

All of your Saudi Arabia race event Gp21 debrief is here :
Although this time practice and qualifications I will leave up to members who want to comment on their own.

Today I just do the race day on sunday.

I will be your host for this event and F1 online commentator for this event.

There is a feeling of great tension as this is one of the very last Grand pris any mistake can cost the title. Any error will have dramatic consequence.

Perez chases Leclerc almost touching his colleague Verstappen.

So far its the perfect release for Hamilton and Bottas who dominate.

So far Bottas shields Hamilton from Verstappen.

Norris is now 6th and Ocon 7th. Both have gained positions.

The gap Between Perez 5th and Leclerc has climbed to 2.5secs

Bottas asks Hamilton again to widen the gap between them as the gap climbed to 2secs

Theres a crash reported its Haas Schumacher at T21 this is the first safety car of the race.

Hamilton & also his colleague Bottas both

Verstappen stays out on track taking the lead.

Mercedes just lost the lead they had.

Leclerc & Perez also pit

So the order of things has changed
Verstappen first cause he did not pit
Hamilton 2nd
Bottas 3rd
Alpine Ocon 4th did not pit
McLaren Ricciardo 5th did not pit

Verstappen radios to his team about regulations he is angry drivers could pit and change tyres during the safety car. It is possible cause of the red flag though.

Red Bull had to stay ahead could not pit they took an advange staying on track
It would make less sense to pit and continue behind 2 Mercedes.


Hamilton inquires what is the reason of the red flag and finds it unbelievable cause the security barrier is not damaged.

Can the red flag be a crucial event that can decide where the championship title goes?
This is a huge advantage for Verstappen who took the lead from Mercedes.

Race is set to restart at 18h15

This is the way things look now after the red flag:

Verstappen leads
Hamilton is 2nd
Bottas is 3rd
Alpine Ocon 4th
McLaren Ricciardo 5th

The tension rises as the grid has changed with
Verstappen first. Both Mercedes being behind Verstappen.

Norris was 6th lost many positions after this safety car to 14th

Ricciardo was 9th his colleague and now is 5th.

The new formation lap with Verstappen ahead has begun.

Race restart will soon follow

Verstappen complains he cant get his tyres hot as the safety car is too slow for him.

Race is on again!

Hamilton heads out find a way to be ahead

Verstappen catches him around the outside off track at T1 and passe him

RedBull Perez crashes spinning cause he made contact with Leclerc

And there we go a new red flag

Russell’s car is damaged has no front wing any

Hamilton accuses Verstappen of passing him from outside the track
And this while clearly Hamilton owned the track corner.

Will the stewards force Verstappen to give back Hamilton his lost the position ?
For cutting across the whole kerb and overtookaking from outside the white line.

F1 officials at the race advise Verstappen he will have to give up one position!

Michael Masi bargains withRedbull
Proposes RedBull to accept startind from P2 regards to the position he was before overtaking.

Red Bull manager Jon Wheatley disagrees arguing they felft pushed off the track.

Would that mean Hamilton goes to the front, with Verstappen ahead of Ocon?
Or would Ocon inherit the lead?

RedBull would accept the bargain for verstappen to restart from P2 on one condition Ocon continues leading….

Masi agrees and then so does RedBull

Masi now advises Mercedes
Ocon will be in position 1 at the restart of the race
Hamilton will be in second place
Verstappen will be behind
hamilton 3rd place.

New restart will soon follow lap 16 and its the third time there has to be a restart…

Verstappen is on track and allows Ocon & Hamilton to take place ahead of him as decided by RedBull and Masi.

Hamilton hard

Hamilton inquires his team why the choice of new mediums?
He is told these are the right tyres they can last to the end of the race.

Here we go! restart!

Verstappen moves down the inside into the corner and passes Hamilton cause his tyres perform better than Hamilton’s hard tyres.

Its really amazing seing how Verstappen and Ocon ganged up squeezing wheel to wheel Hamilton on each side and left him behind

Ocon 2nd
Verstappen leads!

Hamilton chases Ocon and overtakes rising to 2nd

Hamilton must not be damaged after being the contact or he would not have this speed.

Verstappen is on medium but can they last to the end of the race?

Fortunatly Hamilton on hards isnt very much faster than Verstappen.

Ocon 3rd
Ricciardo 4th
Bottas 5th

Verstappen keeps Hamilyon at a distance.

Hamilton chased Hamilton but at 1.4secs away he cant use the DRS.

Tsunoda makes contact with Vettel!
Both went spinning at T1.

Tsunoda lost a wing.

Safety car, virtual not for long

Then race restarts

The gap between Haminton and Verstappen is only 1.2secs now

Lap 25 Verstappen leads
Hamilton 2nd +1.2 secs
Ocon 3rd but he is far behind +11.4secs
Ricciardo 4th
Bottas.

Verstappen can finish the race on medium without pitting.

Hamilton, has a tyre that can last longer but is still only 2nd notheless.

Lap 27 Alonso spinning lucklily he does not hit any barriers ends up 14th.



Aston Martin Vettel makes hard contact with Raikkonen

New Virtual safety car


Lap 32 laps Verstappen complains that Raikkonen ahead of himnis too slow and he cant overtake during virtual safety car.

Race restarts


Hamilton still only 2nd and the +1.7secs behind the leader Verstappen and only 17 laps left in this crazy race!

Verstappen and Hamilton are side by side! Its a straight line!!!!

Hamilton is in the right place about to overtake drawn to the RedBull ahead using the airflow coming from Verstappen.

Hamilton is so close to Verstappen right behind him and he makes his move
Jumps to overtake

Verstappen still going straight slows down…and immediatly Hamilton coming in at high speed runs into the RedBull he can’t avoid this obstacle in his way.
Hamilton is angled though but Verstappen was too close to him when he slowed down.
Its like Verstappen was waiting for the perfect timing to become an obstacle in Hamilton’s way that he couldn’t avoid.

Verstappen keeps going leading ignoring Hamilton behind him.

The RedBull team declared they had told Verstappen to let Hamilton pass.

Do you really believe this???

I find this move very well timed, Verstappen would have known it would end up in a collision and would have move side ways more, but instead he kept going straight.

One might argue that indeed Hamilton had all the space to the side to overtake had he not been bent upon the idea of using the airflow to get the best stream and move atound at the last possible second…

Verstappen who did not care what Hamilton was doing or not owned the road and kept hoing straight.
Probably thought why should I give an inch more than?
Had Hamilton not followed so close … he would have been able to overtake and not hit Verstappen.

Hamilton on the radio starts accusing Verstappen .

Toto looses control…. Its not everyday you will see this it is indeed a crazy race.

Tsunoda and Vettel collide

It seems Mercedes top officers are seriously arguing with Masi the race director why they were told Verstappen was going to give up position at the worst moment and now Mercedes chances are uncertain of winning the race!

If RedBull indeed told Verstappen to do this
Why did the information not reach Mercedes who was doing everything to chase at top speed Verstappen. Not expecting Verstappen was going to slow down. Masi seemingly had told Redbull to give up or be investigated for passing from the outside earlier… then Redbull told Verstappen to do just that.
In the heat of things Hamilton kept charging and ran into a braking Verstappen.

Could you think of a worst moment for the race director to reach out to RedBull ? At the moment both drivers were ay top speed and so close? Its outrageous isn’t it?
The race director caused this mess!
No do you understand why Toto went crazy ?
Masi denied Hamilton his victory over Verstappen at the last possible second by making decisions that would alter the race.
As if this was not an important moment …
I can’t think of a more peculiar race this year can you?
The race director causes mayhem.
This does not bother cars in the back battling for the 10th position.
No it concerns the two cars leading and fighting for the drivers title at one race from the season end. Drivers bent upon not making one tiny mistake that would cause them the title… and here comes Masi

Well this caused much confusion…

Verstappen allows Hamilton to pass him….
He is just doing what he wanted to do earlier only in a fair way
Then Verstappen has no trouble overtakinh Hamilton whose front wing is damaged
Verstappen leads again

Verstappen receives a 5secs time penalty for driving off track earlier and gaining an advantage !

This race director is really determined not to let the race happen a different way he sees it !

Hamilton ran into Verstappen who was just doing what Masi wanted and bot receives a penalty… ha now i understand Verstappen failed to just let Hamilton pass earlier and played a trick and Massi now makes RedBull pay for doing what they were told but not doing it completely…

I understand yes Verstappen deserves 5 seconds penalty he should have just let Hamilton pass around and give him more space to allow that to happen smoothely.

This is not over there are still 7 laps left in the race.

Hamilton is 2nd
Alpine Ocon is 3rd
Bottas 4th
Ricciardo 5th
Gasly 6th
Sainz 7th
Leclerc 8th
Giovinazzi 9th
Norris 10th

As the gao between Verstappen and Hamilton is not 5secs this means Verstappen cant win anymore.

Hamilton wins !!!!! Verstappen arrived first but with a penalty.
Hamilton arrived second is the winner.

Its indeed a very crazy race
Bottas artived 3rd is the only thing not crazy about this race.

Alonso 10 th scores points for Alpine

Verstappen has 369.5 points
Hamilton also…. In the drivers championship!
They are equal its amazing so we dont know who will win the title.
It all depends on the final race at Abu Dhabi!

Who was doing whatever in the safest way will be an interesting discussion with the stewards…

Sainz stayed on medium tyres and is not quicker could be eliminated by those switching to softs and gaining on the Aston Martins.

Sainz his colleague drops to 9th as Norris bumps to 8th

Lando Norris moves up to 8th, and that knocks Carlos Sainz down to 9th...
Charles Leclerc is out in qualifying - he only goes 12th!

Perez 11th on softs eliminated will not reach Q3 its really dramatic for Red Bull missing only 0.1secs!
Leclerc out also is bad news for Ferrari.

By a 4/10 th advantage ! That cannot be beat!

Gasly punctures off track so it doesnt count.

No yellow flags mind, as the AlphaTauri is on the racing line.

We have to admit Alpine did great today but Their rival Alpha Tauri did also better Gas 4th Tsu 8th!

Hamilton declared after getting the pole!
Had difficult time in practice and had to really make up today

Verstappen on qualifying 2nd declared lacking some pace and wished they could have fought more.

Red Bull Perez his colleague did not make it to Q3.

Hamilton takes the lead passing Gasly 2nd and Alonso 3rd at T1.

Hamilton moves away from Alonso +1.8secs behind at the end of Lap 1.

Hamilton really was lucky to start this way and on hard tyres.

Then Verstappen on Drs overtakes Gasly and is finaly 3rd.

Verstappen has gained 4 positions so far.

Verstappen chases Alonso gets the DRS
And overtakes him as well and is finaly 2nd

Hamilton first is 3.8 secs ahead of everyone
Hamilton increases his lead +4.3secs

Perez 8th passing Tsunoda

Bottas still only 11th

Hamilton is 4.7 secs ahead everyone at Lap 7

Perez 7th but Sainz takes 7th position away from him as Perez locks breaks at T1

Perez 7th again finaly passes Ferrari Sainz
And chases Ocon.

Toto Wolff on radio talks to Bottas asking him to come on move!

Bottas moving to 9th passing Stroll

Hamilton has such a great pace is 6secs ahead of first car behind Verstappen who cannot equal or beat him.

The two first cars are 15 secs ahead of the third now.


Lap 12 McLaren Norris 4th passes Gasly

Perez 5th passes Gasly who is on used softs.
Can Perez climb on the podium today.

Hamilton is 6.6 secs ahead of 2nd car and is fastest laper.

Bottas 7th passes Ferrari Sainz.
Is told he could be 3rd on the podium by his team.
Bottas keeps going chasing Ocon 6th.

Perez is 4th passing Norris.
Then chasing Alonso 3rd.

Bottas 6th passes Ocon

Hamilton is 4 secs ahead of the 2nd car must be flying!

Verstappen 2nd pits and exits still 2nd
Alonso is 3rd right behind.

Hamilton pits from the lead!and exits still first

Perez pits from 4th and exits …..12th
Vettel 13th

Mercedes advises Verstappen 5th could do 2 pit stops

Hamilton is ahead of everyone by 8.5 secs

FP1 Brazilian F1 practice.

Welcome to Brazil!

Hamilton dominated on friday the practice they worked and got the right settings
And Verstappen only 2nd +0.5 secs

Brazil qualifications below


The Fia is investigating Hamilton’s car.
The flaps used for Drs located on the rear wings do not exceeds the required manditory dimensions of 85 milimeters max distance between the upper and lower flap.

Verstappen and stewards discuss they accuse him of breaching the sporting code for touching Hamilton’s car under parc ferme conditions. Verstappen cannot deny there is a fan video where he touches Hamilton’s rear wing to check something.

Mercedes declared that this wing was examined before during previous races fine.
Then you have to question yourself what happened to this wing?

As a result Hamilton could receive grid penalty for the wing and also 5grid penalty he received already.

Verstappen could be sanctionned for breaching park ferme regulation.
Its obvious he is not the cause of Hamilton’s wing problem but it must be a difficult position for Verstappen right now.

Could this imply that Hamilton is dramaticaly out of the championship race for the driver title.

Its time for 24 laps of sprint action!
First of all Hamilton disqualified cause of his wing will start from back.

Second Verstappen received no grid penalty but a big 50000 usd fine for touching Hamilton’s car during park ferme!

Hamilton no matter what are his sprint results will also get 5 additional grid penalty for his engine change!

Mercedes declares that the wing became loose and was not falty by design and that they had passed previous tests with the same wing.

Do you think there is a world were Mercedes knowing they had passed the tests used the situation to modify the wing to their advantage and take a risk? What are your theories?the wing would not have been designed wrong just tampered by Mercedes in some way later?

Red Bull Christian Horner declares that since Mercedes have got good pace then Hamilton is not out if the race yet he could still be a rival for Verstappen and with the high temperature the tyre degradation is going to be higher.

Mercedes Toto Wolff declared about this sprint and its greatest frustrations.
Bottas was in control and was brilliant.
Hamilton did as much as 16 overtakes and only arrived 5th place with no points awarded from the sprint.

Toto also declared they failed the fia wing test and they must follow protocol. This was because the wing was damaged during quali.
Mercedes will not appeal cause they believe the penalty is fair.

Toto is confident for sundays race cause they have a good car and they noticed their tyres did not use up in the sprint.
Also Hamilton sunday will not be starting from 20th but only 10th
Plus Bottas is poleman.

Hamilton has pace he is quick and can overcome his position on the grid.

Red Bull Christian Horner declared that with this current speed Hamilton can win sundays race.

The sprint results were lot so good for Red Bull
Verstappen and his colleague Perez started one position and arrived one less thanks to Bottas and Sainz.

Under these conditions if Red Bull is not so fast then Hamilton can still win.

As the race will last longer than the saturday sprint pilots will choose different tyres that last longer.


Christian Horner is confident Perez has a big role to play today he is 4th he can move up but also hold back Hamilton coming from 10th.
Red Bull is anticipating that Mercedes are faster than them still there are two Red Bulls on row 1&2.

The race in bullit points:

All have chosen medium tyres except tsunoda who has softs.

The race starts

Norris returns to box his tyre is damaged by contact with another car probably a Ferrari.

Verstappen is first
Perez 3rd then 2nd
Bot becomes 3rd
Ferrari Sainz 4th

Lap 2 Hamilton is quickly 6th having passed Vettel

Verstappen is the leader followed by his colleague Perez +1.3 secs

Bottas 3rd +1.5secs
Ferrari Leclerc 4th
Ferrari Sainz 5th
Hamilton 6th

Then Hamilton rises is fifth
Cause sainz is unable to defend his position against hamilton’s speed who doesnt require Drs against him.


Bottas 2nd and Hamilton 5th are 2 secs apart

Now Hamilton has to deal with Leclerc 4th

Its done Hamilton is 4th and is right behind his colleague Bottas 3rd.

Hamilton took care of both Ferraris in no time
He seems like he is going to win this Grand Prix.
Hamilton 3rd as Bottas was told to let him pass at T1.

Hamilton is now+ 4,7 secs from the leader Verstappen and has to deal with Perez 3.3secs away.

Tsunoda needed some attention he got into an incident with unlucky Stroll at T1
The track is covered by large pieces of Tsunodas wing and the safety car is called after Tsunoda pits.

This safety car slows down both Red Bull ahead of him its much to his advantage cause they cannot get away anymore during safety car.
Bot Red Bulls are cornered by the two Mercedes right behind them and when the safety car will cease there will be an intense fight to defend or conquer positions.


Verstappen is the leader but how long can he resist hamilton?

Red Bull Christian Horner declares its nice to have both cars upfront but… Hamilton is close and fast.

The safety car is called off

So far no change
Leclerc almost made it to 4th but Bottas defended his position.

Surprise there is another safety car, there is a new incident its Schumacher and an Alfa Romeo at T1.

Tsunoda 18th is awarded a well deserved 10secs penalty for earlier incident.
Stroll who survided the incident is 11th.
I miss the days where evil Kubica raged on the track he did not hit someone by incident!

Hamilton defends against Perez by a move outside. Perez cannot keep going straight to pursue.

Hamilton has managed to deal with Red Bull Perez now can he do the same with Verstappen leading the race?

Perez 3rd is now pursued by Bottas 4th.

And his colleague Sainz is 6th

Hamilton pits !exits 6th on hard tyres!
Mercedes is the first team to pit and with their pace will not stay 6th for long

Red Bull reacts, Verstappen pits and exits first

Bottas is now leading the race.

Here we go again something happens in the back and there is a new safety car its a piece of Stroll’s car that broke off.
Wasn’t 2 safety cars enough and why was Stroll car wrecked by Tsunoda allowed to go back racing anyway what for ?

Bottas pits and exits 3rd but Perez is 4th and that is good for Mercedes.

Hamilton cannot get Drs he needs as Verstappen slips away.


Verstappen pits a 2nd time this is probably to counter and anticipate an undercut
Verstappen exits fine in second place behind Hamilton but there is traffic ahead there is a williams driven by Latifi.

Mercedes reacts and Bottas pits a 2nd time respond.
Bottas not convinced why he drops from 2nd pits and exits to fith is the right choice.
Ferrari Leclerc is 4th chased by Bottas.

Hamilton was given medium not the hard he expected
His team tells him hard tyres use up rapidly ln this track due to the high temperature.

Bottas doubts all this is right says to his teams they threw away an opportunity for a 1 2

Verstappen-Hamilton-Bottas-Perez reunited in the top four after second stops for all the quartet.

Perez could get the fastest lap point if noone is faster….

Hamilton is faster than Perez ….1.12.1 secs for one lap!

Verstappen still leads and Hamilton 2nd +1.1secs

Verstappen & Hamilton on Drs brawl side by side are going off track wide!
The question is did Verstappen defend by moving aside pushing forcing Hamilton to get off the track with him at T4?

Verstappen is still first when he returns to track.

Stewards have noticed this move and will investigate ….

Only 20 laps left before the end
Hamilton needs to try again but did he use his tyres driving off track?
Verstappen did more thab defend he used Hamilton tyres too….by forcing him to drive off track….

The stewards have no opinion they declare no investigatio is necessary….

Well may be rules don’t apply to this cause it looked good in terms of entertainment but its still something unfair or is it sportsman like cause Verstappen received 50000 usd fine earlier and needs to make Hamilton pay?
May be he reached a point he cannot be fined more i guess ? What do you think?

Ricciardo abandons …really hurts Williams cause he could have scored points for the team.
His McLaren colleague Norris is 11th is not among the top 10.

And Verstappen defends well blocking the path

And…. Hamilton passes Vertappen …my heart stopped …
Verstappen could not defend to the end sadly
it could be crucial in the championship race.

Verstappen gets black and white flags for blocking the path to Hamilton.

Lap 63 Hamilton started 10th now is leading and has delt with both the Mercedes after 2 pitstops.
What an intense F1 day.
Verstappen is 2nd +3 secs

With the fastest lap currently in his possession, Verstappen has the fastest lap so far
And if Hamilton wins the Grand Prix
Verstappen will go from 21 points ahead in the drivers championship to only 13


Only 3 laps left and verstappen still 2nd the gap grows +7secs it looks like he will not recover first place

Race ends and Hamilton is the great winner
He pulled it off starting from 10th its a new record for him, winning from even farther down than 6th on the grid.

Perez gets fastest lap point not Hamilton
A small relief for Verstappen whose gap in the championship is now 14 point instead of 13.

Its a crucial victory for Hamilton aiming to get his eighth title in drivers championship!

Verstappen and Hamilton are only 12 points
appart there are only 5 races to go before end of this season. At any time locking brakes spining etc… can cost either of them the championship.

Get ready the feud between McLaren and Ferrari for points will go on.Not just Red Bull and Mercedes.

Verstappen victorious declared crucial when passed both Mercedes he used providential slip steam ! This wad at the first corner right from the start during lap 1. And brilliantly Verstappen came through ahead of two Mercedes!

This will create a great gap of championship points between him and Hamilton.

Verstappen declared I never thought about it too much I just said to myself let's see what happens!
He tried using the outside coming around from behind the Mercedes and gloriously this move did not fail him. The gods of F1 must be with Verstappen took the lead of the race at that moment.

Bottas made contact with Ricciardo whi hit him from behind. Bottas was sent spinning.

Verstappen knew exactly where and when to brake hed been preparing all weekend for this moment and could feel the Mercedes could not prevent him from getting past and ahead.

Red Bull Christian Horner very satisfied declared this said was a massive day!

Verstappend found space to use And it was unclear why the Mercedes did not close that space from the beginning they knew Vertappen was behind…
Bottas could have closed that space but did not.

So this 2nd row position was an advantage well used by Red Bull!

Red Bull Horner also admitted saturday was not a great day they did not perform
And both Mercedes were quicker as a result.

FP1 Texas Austin Cota track F1 practice.

Welcome to this amazing Austin friday F1 practice. its finaly that time again after the long wait since 2019 when Bottas had won the race and Hamilton finished second.
Race weekend is just starting and thousands are expected to come see the event very popular in the US

As the season is ending in 6 races,drivers compete for the driver title.
Only 6 points seperate Verstappen and Hamilton.

Red Bull Christian Horner is concerned about the Mercedes straight line speed making them faster for the past 3 consecutive Gps after they changed engine.
Still Horner believes its not because of the engine change but because Mercedes aero has improved so much its like magic.
Settings and balance is everything not just engine power what do you think is the origin of Mercedes speed?


Ferrari Leclerc and Sainz have received new engines they are now quicker and this could be a problem for McLaren competing for the championship as only 7.5 points seperate them.

The weather forecast is a sunny and no rain, the track is expected to be at 30 degrees.

Red Bull Perez, is the first to head out to the track.

The practice is good to go the green light is given its time for Hamilton and Verstappen on

Immediatly they both top the time sheets only seperated by 0.077secs.

Ferrari Leclerc spins out at Esses head back hile to change waisted tyres.


Hamilton 1.36.812 and Verstappen +0.2 improve times as they do a second run on softs.

Then Bottas 3rd ,McLaren Norris 4th.

Then Norris becomes 2nd with only +0.043s Ricciardo becomes 4th but is still +1/2 sec from his colleague.

Its Perez time to lead on hard tyres 1.36.798
Hamilton 2nd +0.014secs

3 Mercedes-powered cars with grid drops this weekend now.

Aston Martin Vettel & Williams Russell will change Pu parts will both start last at the race.

Bottas changes ICE for the 6th time in the season gets a five grid penalty. Mercedes seeks better balance and also reliability.
Meaning if you get the settings wrong and burn the engine you could have to change again and get another grid penalty….

Mercedes Hamilton takes the lead again 1.36.381

Vettel achiveved being faster for a moment o new soft tyres but his time was deleted for leaving track at T9. Because of this Vettel falls from first to 9th!

Verstappen leads again 1.36.049
Hamilton 2nd + 0.3 secs

Then Mercedes Bottas leads
Lewis Hamilton +0.2secs

Alpine Alonso is back with a only few minutes remaining to set a good P1 time.

Red Bull Perez on hard tyres is 7th reports on team radio driveability problems cause he has been using for 10 laps the same tyres.
Red Bull Christian Horner assumes that Mercedes is faster 0.9secs when in the straights and wonders wether Mercedes are in higher mode.

Red Bull Perez and Haas Schumacher bump at T9 when Perez makes a move inside but The other doesnt see it coming.
Perez told that Schumacher was an idiot not looking at his mirrors. I think Schumacher is not such a rookie may be he decided to find his inner evil Kubica driving as if he was the only one on track. What do you think?

Mercedes Toto Wolff really satisfied as they dominate Fp1 in the straights and the fast corners where Red Bull is also slower.

Mercedes Bottas is ahead of colleague Hamilton at Fp1
Red Bull Verstappen only 3rd.

Ferrari is very strong Leclerc is 4th at Fp1 and second Ferrari pilot Sainz is 5th!

AlphaTauri Gasly 6th was quicker than Red Bull Perez.

As second practice is underway Mercedes & Red Bull improve their times on medium tyres only seperated by 0.04secs

Verstappen and Hamilton were side by side for a while then Hamilton at T1 went to left to right cutting in front of Verstappen which made him angry and he called Hamilton a stupid idiot!

Aston Martin Stroll on soft tyres sets new time even faster than Perez +0.1secs
This will probably not last as both Mercedes head out flying.

Red Bull Christian Horner explained that Verstappen believed he was going to turn first at T1 as a rule and then Hamilton broke that rule so ….

Hamilton fastest time 1.38.842 is deleted
Bottas +0.5secs but still its Bottas who leads

Ferrari Leclerc improves time from being 3rd to 8th right behind Bottas by 0.02secs.
Stroll is 4th.

Verstappen only 8th quits Fp2 cause he could not achieve better timing in traffic.

There it is its finaly qualifying day but before that theres still the last practice Fp3.

Riccardo was rewarded for McLaren first Monza podium. He got to drive Zak Brown’s hero Dale Earnhardt's 1984 Chevrolet.

Verstappen has no had very bright practices 1 or 2 it could be engineers changed a lot of settings last night trying to find a balance.

Vettel is first on track as Fp3 starts he has to mentaly come back from the Mercedes engine penalty and make the best of things coming to him.

Alpine Alonso had a disastrous Friday, so here he is on track theres a lot to make up for.

Hamilton is on track with soft tyres and his timing is 1.35.8! Really improving.

Red Bull Perez manages to be quicker than Hamilton by 0.2secs.

Verstappen 1:34.3 is indeed faster than his colleague Perez +0.3secd but is time deleted so what the hell..

Hamilton tries also and gets time deleted at T9. You can only be so fast you know… his time was + 0.1 secs from verstappen.
I guess everyone has their limits.
Still you have to admit that Hamilton and

Perez on medium tyre on second run does not repeat same mistake stays on track his lap time is not deleted.He could not afford to get deleted again but still is only 7th.

His colleague Norris is 3rd

Riccardo is only 9th on mediums
And then noone else is faster later on behind him,the rest behind do not improve their lap times so Ricciardo is not eliminated.

Tsunoda improved his lap time moves from 11th to 10th this eliminated Ocon.

Toto Wolff expects has a theory due to the heat tyres will be used fast so they have a strategy to preserve tyres if you cannot overtake trying again will cause damage to the tyres. So they plan on other solutions in that case undercut, overcut, or more stops.

Hamilton is ahead but never stopped is this going to be a problem if Verstappen catches up? Verstappen finds speed and the gap is now+ 1.5s only one lap to go only one place on the podium for the winner!

Hamilton has found a way to be within less than 1 seconds behind Verstappen
But not for long Verstappen becomes faster
hamilton cannot get DRS ! And Verstappen is out of range now!


Verstappen cannot be beat and wins delivered from an intense race ordeal !

Verstappen gets to be 12 points ahead of Hamilton in the championship.

His boss Horner said I think I've aged about 25 years in that race, I really didn't think we were going to hang on.

Bottas Mercedes ends 6th he passed Sainz Ferrari.

The Red Bulls showed they could have better pace than the Mercedes and for a long time!

RedBull risky strategy by pitting too early paid off as the car was reliable and Verstappen made no mistakes! Even with all the bumps!

During Practice:

We want to welcome everyone to this Turkish Grand Prix.

Ferrari Sainz will start last on the grid on sunday cause of his engine penalty.
His team boss Mekies declared they are making risky experiments.

Alfa Romeo Raikkonen is upset noone can fix his water bottle leak in the car.
« The most simple part of the car and we can't fix it ». Are we sure its really the bottle leaking?

Gasly also is not satisfied« my arms are too short » such is his car understeer problem.
Size and length really matters?

Hamilton leads is the fastest this friday and Leclerc is tailing him.

"Charles is doing a really good job so far," reports Ferrari boss Mekies is really satisfied by Leclerc 2nd fastest. Hamilton is first but the gap between them is only a few 10ths.

Whats really important here to distinguish cars one from another is the long-run practice just starting.

Hamilton starts his a long run using medium tyres.Just how fast is his he compared to others?

Long-run stats with the medium tyres:

Hamilton had good long run pace and is confident for the race sunday.

Alpine Ocon car is not doing so great overall.

His car is great…. And he will be stuck in traffic sunday with the 10 grid penalty for a while but he can still win the race.

Red Bull Christian Horner declared there is a balance problem.The track has more grip it seems since last Grand prix. They don’t have the right set up but can change this tonight.
Horner is confident their cars performance are reliable they just have to update the settings.
Mercedes & Ferrari Leclerc do not have this balance problem.

Red Bull Christian Horner declared that Hamilton 4th engine change was absolutly necessary, it was not a choice.
Horner hopes Red Bull can finish season on 4 engines.

Bottas is very lucky he could win this race when his colleague Hamilton is penalised 10 grid positions.

Red Bull balance problem of understeer is really using up the front right tyre.

Verstappen declares friday wasn’t so good despite what the team tried to find the eight setting. But tonight engineers have time to work on it.

Hamilton declares he was very surprised just how much the track changed since last year it has so much more grip and makes it so luch more intense.Hamilton is confident with the set up after seeing the long-run results.

We remind you that Verstappen finished 2nd at Sochi starting from the 20th position cause of his penalty for changing a honda engine.
So anything can happen sunday.

Ferrari Sainz starts from last position received a penalty for a new Power Unit.

Hamilton has a 10 grid penalty because he received a new engine ICE for the 4th time and the Fia only allows 3 changes.

Schumacher Haas made it to Q2 its the first time this happens since the Paul Ricard incident it must be an extraordinary moment for Haas.

16th Ric McLaren so shocking to see he is out of qualifying this fast.Its because vettel was faster by a 10th.

Q3

Hamilton dominated the practice and the qualifying on any tyre.

Bottas faster than Hamilton at first Q3 laps only +0.022secs appart.

Gasly is 5th beaten by Leclerc but his performance is still great. He was only eliminated from Q3 3 times out of 10 previous races.

Verstappen improves his timing during Q3 but nonetheless is 3rd.

Perez his colleague is sixth beaten during qualifying by Gasly and Alonso.

Bottas gets pole , previous pole was at the Portugese Gp.

Hamilton managed to win starting 6th at last Turkish Gp.

Ferrari Leclerc is 4th on the grid.
It’s his last lap that pushed him in front of Gasly, Alonso and Perez.

Verstappen will be 2nd in the grid its a recovery from friday’s tricky conditions they got back into the race with better time sheets.
Verstappen expects to be competitive and knows the tyres use up a lot on this track.

Bottas has race plans to win after qualifying so well.
Qualifying was tricky cause the track was sometimes wet.

Bottas is getting ready to win the race.
Toto is very satisfied by the results during qualifying the track is nice for their cars but knows also its difficult to overtake cars using the same medium tyres as they do.

During friday practice Mercedes was stuck behind cars and they saw this difficulty arise.
Stuck behind Haas & Williams was something they had not anticipated.
So Mercedes must come up with a good strategy for the race.

Mercedes Toto Wolff wants to focus on the positive side they are car very fast.
They start from pole.
The cars using medium tyres are difficult to catch up and overtake, there are many in front of Hamilton they will limit his progress.

Red Bull christian Horner focused on beating Mercedes is very satisfied by qualifying results verstappen 2nd and Perez 6th.He knows that to beat them they need to be ahead.
Mercedes can have a very fast lap but it doesn’t mean they can be each lap.
Horner knows the best strategy is an asset.

Bottas steals pole from Verstappen.

Hamilton fastest during qualifying but he also received friday a ten grid penalty cause it is his 4th change of the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) this season, only 3 changes are allowed by Fia.

Bottas wins the Turkish Grand prix,
It is his first victory of the season & he feels it was hard to win this race.
Bottas was leading most often than not this race.

Verstappen leads the championship ahead of Hamilton by 6 points and the end of the season is not that far away.

Hamilton was third finished only fith after a very controversial pitstop.
Hamilton complains to his team for the bad pit stop strategy.
After a 10 grid penalty he finaly was third seven laps before the end of the race and the pitstop made him loose this position.
The intermediates did not work they grained and he could not catch up the two lost positions.
After this Hamilton would not listen to team radio « leave me alone! »

Verstappen is second and Perez third.

Toto defended their strategy of asking Hamilton to pit near end of race cause they could see he was dropping behind and Gasly would have caught up with him.
Hamilton could not see this only the team.
Hamilton went into a team meeting to debrief cause he was very upset about team strategy. « Why did you give up that place « 
May be he should have been told he would loose two positions without pitting.
Hamilton believes he would have finished ahead of both Leclerc and Perez without pitting.

Alpine Ocon used the same tyres all race so why Hamilton could not do the same?

Ferrary Sainz finishes 8th gets to be declared driver of the day for gaining positions.

Besides the drama of loosing so close to the end we must remind the great brawl between Hamilton and Perez for 4th place that was amazing how they were side by side for so long and fought to get the position.

Verstappen is fastest & drove off into gravel then crashed into the wall at T7.
Upset Claims he lost rear oversteering.

The heavens open sending all the rain it can down and drivers use wet tyres for Q3 this is the final qualification and will determine the grid for the race! 1
Will the change of tyres change things for Russel who is so far close to being pole! 10 drivers though still use intermediates do they have eyes?

Vettel struggling in floods radios his team “ they should red flag! too much water!”

 Norris HUGE Spectacular crash at eau rouge. Red flag to stop Q3.
Norris is ok but it was very scary and looses all chance to get pole.

Vettel drives by checking on Norris at the crash and reminds that what he said earlier.

The problem is that Masi will say the weather forecast showed a window the but rain came anyway…. What do you think? They may contact pilots to confirm it is raining and then what ? May bewe should have Vettel replace Massi ?

Norris oversteered lost control went into a the barriers and started spinning sending sparks and parts as the car was torn appart.
Norris did appologize to his team for loosing all advantage they had.
Norris holding his arm in pain is taken away to be checked out by doctors.

The safety car goes around and around but rain doesn’t stop and water rises.
Finaly Q3 restarts under light rain 9 minutes before the end and it would be risky to still use intermediates.
But many drivers use intermediate…all but Russel who pits to change to intermediates like everyone else.
Its amasing how these tyre not designed for wet tracks still work….may be its just cause these tyres are just so large they will push the water of track and the speed…


5 minutes to go.
You can expect the cars to run to the flag now to try and cram in as many laps as possible. Which won't be many with the length of the lap at Spa!

Raikkonen Alfa Romeo will start from the pits due to a recent rear wing change.
This represents a bonus for Maz and Str who gain a position in the grid.

Unbreakable Norris having survided a scary crash is ready to race he only has bruises and his car is torn in pieces. lucky to be alive and in one piece but starts from 14th and not pole.
He was fastest in qualifying so hopes to make up for loosing pole crashing.
He took a 5 grid penalty for changing gear box after the crash…. Did they not change the entire car?!?! There was nothing to salvage after the crash wasn’t there?Anyway he is cleared by doctors he can race but from 14th…
By the way Raikkonen gets to starts from pit for changing a wing and Norris only gets a five grid penalty for changing entire car… how does that make sense?

The track is so wet! and Hamilton radios there is no grip to his team.


Everyone is using wet tyres and attempt to reach the grid as they make their way on the track.

The lack of grip is confirmed as Perez Red Bull never makes it to his 7th grid position he crashes. The suspension is damaged and that prevents him for racing which is very dissapointing for Red Bull Di Resta.So much for getting a contract renewal if you blow it all away trying to reach the grid its not his fault but its not what you expected.
At this point there remains only one driver for Red Bull Verstappen.

Visibility is not easy on the track between cars as wheels raise a wall of water for the car behind.

Other pilots have now reached their assigned position on the grid. Perez 7th grid position remains empty this is especially difficult to accept for Christian Horner Red Bull as the team now is one hand tied behind its back is deprived of being able to score full points and compete with Mercedes to the fullest.
At this point pilots and teams have integrated that the track is a risk today.

Formation lap will be assisted by safety car.

Cars are waiting for the race start.

The race start and thus the formation lap is delayed 10 minutes then reported 5 minutes then again 5 minutes… stewards waiting for the rain to stop keep delaying.

 Finally formation lap starts and only behind safety car.

Hamilton reports he can’t see the anything to his team.

Verstappen reports he can’t see the safety car right in front of him.

The formation lap over it continues ,there is a 2nd formation lap with the safety car.

Most drivers report to their teams they cant see or drive.

Red flag is signaled to suspend the start of the race and all cars make their way back to pits.

Red Bull has requested permission to do repairs on Perez’s car.
The permission is denied by Masi but Red Bull points out the race hasn’t started how can he be denied to repair?
Red Bull begins repairing as Masi has nothing more to say.
Red Bull requests that Perez be allowed to re enter the race as they hope to repair his car before official start of the race.

An Fia car is driving on track to check drivability under such wet conditions.

Finaly race is announced will start at 2pm officially by Masi.
Question is can 43 laps be completed today?
What if this is not possible?
Could the race then be postoponed monday?
But its not possible as there is a race next weekend also to prepare for the teams they have to go to Zandvorrt and race spectators working on monday would not come back.

Another time the Fia car heads out on the track to check drivability but things have not changed much.

Fia announces they stop the race untill 17pm!
And later that the race will only last one hour if the conditions are good enough to race.

An information is given that weather forecast is looking good and the race should start officialy at 17:17pm

Teams start to worry in anticipation that they will not be really able to race very long just the necessary official 2 laps to declare it a race and that in the end only half points will be awarded.

Perez Red Bull has been allowed by Masi to start from the pits he is back in the race officialy.

Finally the cars return to track with safety car in front of them. The race now has officialy only one hour left to be completed.

Teams are worried that the track conditions are far from improving.

Pilots are really finally racing !!

Two laps completed with safety car leading …

Red flag all drivers ordered to get back to pits.

Only Half points should be awarded at best if race doesn’t restart.


Race officialy will not restart

Verstappen crowned race winner.
Russell comes in 2nd
Hamilton is 3rd

Comments after very strange race behind safety car at all times and stopped after only 2 laps:

Verstappen : a win is a win!

Russell its his first time in F1 to be part of the podium!!! And he plans to celebrate with his team.

Hamilton not very happy for the team or the fans as he is now only 3 points ahead if Verstappen and missed an opportunity to really race.
